About Anela
anela is a HealthTech start-up from Innsbruck with a clear mission:
We develop digital solutions that enable particularly older people to live an independent, active and safe life.
Our SOS emergency watch for seniors is at the heart of this. It was specially developed for people who want to remain mobile, live their daily lives independently and at the same time have the security of being able to quickly get help in an emergency.
Our values always guide us: freedom, security and simplicity.
Our Values

The Founders
Behind anela are two founders who not only share their expertise but also a personal motivation: Bernd Knünz and Markus Kristandl.
Bernd Knünz is a sports scientist and business economist with over 20 years of experience as a managing director, manager, and consultant in various industries – including the sports industry. In addition, he shares his knowledge as a lecturer at UMIT Tirol, a private university for health sciences and technology in Hall in Tyrol.
Markus Kristandl is a business economist and marketing expert with international experience in the medical technology and healthcare industry. In recent years, he has founded several companies and gives lectures on e-commerce and digital marketing. He is particularly interested in health, digitalization, nutrition, and longevity.
Both founders live far away from their parents. This personal experience led to the desire to develop a solution that combines health, technology, and real everyday needs.
Thus, anela was founded in 2024 with the goal of making innovation in the healthcare sector technically simple – for greater safety in the daily lives of older people.
For us, innovation begins where technology and its application become simple. This applies particularly to older people.
Many people want more security in their daily lives. But without a red button on their wrist. Simple, discreet, inconspicuous – so that not everyone sees it right away.
